PLEASE people. Really?? There have been several people who say they are Saddleback members and that Rick Warren NEVER publicly endorsed Prop 8. Really? Is that all you have?
The bottom line is that it IS a fact. Even in interviews after his endorsement he did not deny it. Read part of the email here. Or check it out at CBN.
If you don't trust the source, maybe you can trust a video from the Saddleback website?
Now can we please put to rest this "Rick Warren never publicly endorsed Prop 8" issue? Because He did!!

I think the observation was that he only sent the e-mail to the Saddleback Church family. Pastor Rick did not hold a press conference to endorse or actively campaign for Prop. 8.
Charles,
Several people have said on this blog that Rick never event sent an email. But he did :) I'm just pointing that out. He DID take a public stand by publicly announcing his support of Prop 8. His endorsement spread around the web like wildfire.
Anyone who says Pastor Rick didn't send an e-mail is mistaken.
Notwithstanding said e-mail, I would still argue "Rick Warren never publicly endorsed Prop 8" (unless you think every e-mail YOU send is publically endorsing the contents therein?).
Charles,
I would definitely say that an email sent to tens of thousands of people and a video posted on a public website (saddlebackfamily.com) definitely counts as a public statement.
If he just told a couple people over dinner about his support that wouldn't be a public statement :)
We simply have a bigger definition of "family" than you do. Have a great weekend : )
Yea, that video really says it all.
