Can you post Olbermann's rant too? We made O'Reilly and the Colbert Report too.
There’s a great Op-ed piece in yesterday’s L.A. Times from a Black Lesbian political activist, who did a great job describing the disconnect between black voters and proponents of same-sex marriage. It’s a thought-provoking piece. Among other things, she pointed to the attacks on religion by the No on 8 crowd as a losing argument:
“But the black civil rights movement was essentially born out of and driven by the black church; social justice and religion are inextricably intertwined in the black community. To many blacks, civil rights are grounded in Christianity — not something separate and apart from religion but synonymous with it. To the extent that the issue of gay marriage seemed to be pitted against the church, it was going to be a losing battle in my community.”

I agree. I don't think attacks on religion are helpful. However, I don't think the No on 8 campaign was doing that to a large extent. The only ad I can remember involved mormons going into a house and tearing up a marriage certificate from a lesbian couple. What negative attacks on Christianity do you remember from the No on 8 Campaign? I'm not talking about protesters, but the tv commercials, mailings, etc...
